It’s not even a choice for a pharmacist between an applicant with pharmacy technician certification or someone who doesn’t have one, because a pharmacist knows which one is more valuable inside the pharmacy. Needless to say, the certified pharmacy technician is the obvious choice between the two applicants. Even though a certification or even just a formal training is not a requirement to be a pharmacy technician, pharmacists and employers prefer those individuals that are certified by either the Pharma Tech Certification Board or the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians. Aside from being certified, it should help if they’ve finished a formal training from a good school, too.
