Facts You Will Like About Android Phones
Tuesday, August 17th, 2010If you’ve been keeping track of cellular market news you probably already know that, in terms of popularity, the Android OS is very quickly catching up with the iPhone and Blackberry operating systems. The rise in popularity could be due to the fact that many different types of phones use the Android OS. The other smart phones are starting to see some competition because this operating system is constantly being upgraded, developed and worked on. The Android phone is also set apart from its major competitors, the iPhone and the Blackberry, because they are incredibly varied and come in a bunch of different types, styles and software extensions. Here are some great facts about the Android and Google phones that you might not yet know. Most people need to also seriously look at getting a free ipad just before they run out of supply.
Unlike the iPhone, arguably the most popular smart phone on the market, you can purchase Android phones from every wireless provider on the market. You can buy them through AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and usually there are plenty of models available to choose from This is great news for people who want to have a fully functional smart phone but do not want to be limited to one provider or do not have access to that provider where they live. Things might change in a few years when the iPhone is more widely available but for now, the Android phones open up your smart phone options. Phones that use the Android OS are beginning to outsell iPhones. In six states, especially, the phones that use the Android OS are vastly outselling iPhones. There is, unfortunately, a problem with the study: the six states that sell more Android phones are more rural than urban and probably don’t have AT&T coverage. IPhones are currently exclusive to AT&T so that probably influences these studies by quite a bit. If AT&T ever loses the iPhone exclusivity contract those numbers might change and the study will have to be redone.
Recent studies show that smart phones, especially those that use the Android OS, are used more by men than by women. Actually, it looks like men are simply more likely to use any sort of smart phones than women (though the study does not say why). The study does how that the gap is smaller where the iPhone is concerned. Men make up only a little bit more than half of the total users of iPhones. With the Android phone, on the other hand, almost seventy five percent of the users are male. We are not sure why this is. Maybe this is because men seem to be a lot more likely to run out and buy new technology? The study does not say definitely why the numbers are the way they are.
Deciding which cell phone to buy next used to be simple. Many people simply chose to take the free upgrade phone being offered by the cell phone provider. Now you are more likely to choose a provider based on the types of phones it offers. The good news is that it no longer matters what kind of smart phone you like–thanks to the Android OS you can have that phone no matter which cellular provider you want to use. Isn’t that the best thing you’ve heard today?
