Can I learn to drive a manual transmission at a driving school ?

Monday, May 17th, 2010

I am planning going to a driving school. Will it be possible for me to learn to drive a manual transmission at a driving school. Instead of driving an automatic while I’m learning can i drive a manual.

YES you may need to look around abit to find a firm with manuals in some areas of the country you might have to go to a van drivers school ..If you have your own manual you can use that ,so long as the instructor is fully licenced…no problem

How to get a Driving License in New Jersey quickly?

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

I am planning to relocate to NY/NJ but the biggest hurdle is that I don’t know driving. Without knowing driving you can’t survive in US. I stayed in a country where public transport is more encouraged rather than having your own. So there was never a need to learn driving in the first place.

I can learn driving but this may take 6 months or so and this would also have a opportunity cost. So I am thinking if I can relocate to NJ and then learn driving. But not sure how feasible is the idea. If I can learn and get my license within 3-4 weeks then it might be feasible but otherwise it’s not going to work.

I need advise from people who are based in NY/NJ and can tell me how easy it is to get a driving license there.

If you have the money then you can take a taxi cab daily & be like millions of Americans who choose to do so (3 dollars US per mile or less). You have to do quite well on a driving test and so many Americans fail theirs.
Even Americans have to go to a driving school if they didn’t get drivers ed in a school or to learn properly if they did not have big brother/relative to show them the ropes.
Sorry I am not from NJ but the east US states.

Can I drive car without a driving license in the parking lot in The Netherlands?

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

I am an expact living in The Hague. I am currently 17yrs old. I am planning to learn driving with my dad’s car. I know in other countries such as USA, Canada, you are allowed to drive without a license in the parking lots. In Germany its possible to drive without a license under parental guidance if you are 16. Is it possible to drive car in the parking lots in The Netherlands without any license when they are empty?

No, it’s not allowed in the US either. Parking lots are limited access, but they are not private property, so you would need a license or learners permit to drive in them, empty or not.
