Can a speeding ticket be dismissed if the police officer wrote the wrong date?

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I received a speeding ticket on 7/31/09 but the policeman wrote it for 7/30/09. And I was at work on 7/30/09 at the time the ticket was written so it is not possible for me to have been speeding at that time. Can it be dismissed?
No need for your personal opinion. I am 17 years old, technically I am not an adult.

The officer must amend the date. If after he/she testifies and does not amend the ticket, once the judge allows you to speak, request the ticket be dismissed due to the error in dates. Do not be arrogant or else the judge may just amend it and not dismiss it. Good luck

How much is a speeding ticket in California?

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

I got a speeding ticket in LA county for doing 80 in a 65mph zone.
This is technically my 8th offense, but I have gotten only 2 speeding tickets in the past two years (not all 7 other tickets were done within a year, I’ve gotten them over a long period of time).

How much would my ticket cost me? I know I found out that they charge $20 more for each offense you have within 36 months.

According to the California Uniform Bail Schedule, the total amount for a violation of CVC 22349, 22350 or 22351 for 15mph over is $211 which includes the total bail of $146 plus the $65 court security and conviction assessment. The previous convictions won’t affect the fine but could affect your license depending on how many points you have already.

If you want to pay it, go ahead but there are ways to fight it especially if you were paced. It takes a lot of work and is a bit complicated but if you want to know about it, update here and I’ll give you the info. It just takes a while to write and I want to be sure it is read.

I’ll check back for the update.

How do I keep a speeding ticket off my record and insurance?

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

I got a speeding ticket for going 94mph in a 65mph speed limit. I would really like it if I could keep it off my record and insurance. I received the ticket in Tazewell county, IL.

Is there a driving class I could take or have some kind of court supervision for a period of time?
How would I go about taking the driving class to keep it off my record? Do I go to court and ask, call, or what? I am not required to go to court.

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you don’t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!

How much does a speeding ticket in Louisiana start?

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

i’ve recently gotten a speeding ticket from Louisiana state, I have a Texas DL.. I was speeding 80 in a 60mph zone, because I did not notice the speed went from 70 down to 60. I wanted to know around how much would the ticket be if i pay for it… and is there any other options? I can not find any information on it… and YES i have tried calling them.. they said i have to wait for 3 more weeks for the ticket to actually get in the system.. or else they will not give me any information. ANYTHING would help. Thanks!

and btw will my insurance go up?

You are out of state. strike 1. 20 over you are lucky you only got a ticket. It takes time to process yes. You should have a court date on the ticket.

Your insurance will go up. Out of state speeding is brutal. I live in N. Louisiana. I got a ticket for going 55 in a 45 and it cost me $175.

is a speeding ticket from one state enforcable in a different state?

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Lets say someone got a speeding ticket in washington, and decided not to pay because they live in idaho; would that be against them in idaho, or only if they went back to washington?

In other words, if the ticket is not payed, and the person never goes back to washington (or doesn’t drive if they do) are there any consequences to that person in their own home state?

What are the advantages and dissadvantages of not paying a speeding ticket from another state?

Most states have statutes or agency rules that say that they will give a penalty to someone who is convicted of a speeding violation, for example, in another state, as if it had happened in the state in which the person lives.

Idaho, for example, will recognize a conviction from any other state, AND Canada (link below).

So, if you don’t pay a ticket in Washington, the court in Washington will convict you of speeding. That record will be sent to the Idaho Division of Motor Vehicles, where they will then enter the conviction on their records and take the appropriate steps from there. Your Idaho license could be suspended, and you will still be on the hook in Washington for any unpaid fees and fines resulting from your conviction for failure to appear.

This is not legal advice and I am not an attorney licensed to practice law in your state. If you have any questions whatsoever about your situation, you should consult an attorney for advice.

The Speeding Ticket

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Busted by the nicests Nevada Highway Patrol on Interstate 80 in Reno. well, the nicest officer that has ever pulled me over. this is the third, but first speeding ticket. fyi the radar went off but it was too late. i turned on the camera after I knew I was busted. (19mb)

cited speed and fine withheld.
“being polite opens up more alternative outcomes than being an to the guy who can give you a ticket.” -the guy who still got a ticket but not as bad as it could have been. ahaha.

Can I argue a speeding ticket in court due to an incorrect year of violation?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

I received a speeding ticket and the officer wrote down the wrong date completely (day/month AND YEAR!). I plead not guilty because I was not present in the county on that date, in that year the ticket states. I understand officers can make minor mistakes on tickets, but it was June 2007 and he wrote it for 2006. I now have a court date set for next month. What sort of argument or style should I use with a Mississippi Judge to argue this? Any tips will help!

***ALSO, I failed to mention that I never signed the ticket or was asked to sign it.

You received a citation for a traffic violation. The error on the date can be amended.
