Many Seasons, Much Pleasure in Your Calgary Garden
The season are what defines a Calgary garden. Calgary gardens are all about the seasons and Gardeners in Calgary should make the most out of each season.
Calgary Gardeners are a passionate breed of people.
Due to the quick blast of spring summer and fall, we only have a small amount of time to enjoy our gardens in Calgary. Because of this, I like to make the most out of the gardening season.
This starts with paying attention to your garden needs and desires during our sometimes long, but mild Calgary winters. Winter is a time for reflection.
Spring is a time to enjoy your Calgary Gardens.
The tastes, smells, sights, textures and sounds of a garden in Calgary on a warm spring day can be truly amazing. I look forward to this time every single year.
Color and life thrive in the mini ecosystem a Calgary Gardener will accomplish, with just a few garden plants.
With the dawning of spring, suddenly your pets have more energy as they leap around the newly greened yard.
Spring is truly beautiful.
I am sure that winter was designed so that Calgary Gardeners could plan, plan, plan so that when spring finally arrives, it makes it that much better.
The Calgary Growing season is about four to five months. A common weather incident is Calgary is known as a chinook.
They cause the temperature to increase a few degrees in the winter, which you’d think would be good, but for Calgary Gardens, they are bad. Damage can be caused to some Calgary Garden plants because they sometimes think spring is coming. This is especially bad for out of zone Calgary Garden Plants.
Another problem associated with a Chinook is the wind. Fast winds can dry out certain plants in the winter time.
One plant that is local to the Calgary area and particularily vulnerable is the cedar. This can be fixed by wrapping it in burlap.
Once all the precautions are taken and winter has had her time spring comes. That is our time to enjoy.
Perennials that have sat silent form month explode their Calgary Garden holdings with colors and scent.
Many trees and shrubs have stood patient all winter so that they may feel the true Calgary sunshine.
And us Gardeners, we love nature so there is appreciate to be had for all seasons, even with winter and her sister the Chinook.
We must all celebrate and enjoy the off season so that we can get back to the basics and have fun designing the Calgary Garden space for the next coming season.
On the other hand, it might makes some sense to invest in some indoor plants to help with your inspirations.
Happy Gardening!
