Why J will do when buying diamonds
When youre looking at buying diamonds, you are traditionally advised to analyze the so-called 4 Cs. This refers to Cut, Clarity, Color, and Carat weight.
These four elements are all basic, influencing the total value (and thus cost!) of the gemstone. And even more importantly, impacting its look. And of course, things like the setting of the diamond and the shape of it and so on, are other factors.
The color of the diamond is in fact one of the easier elements to decide upon. It works like this: diamonds are color-graded from D through the rest of the alphabet to Z. The letters A, B and C are kept in reserve in case a whiter diamond than D is ever found. But in all reality, D diamonds are altogether colorless and white. To the naked eye, though, anything down to an I or J appears colorless, so when youre looking to choose engagement rings or bridal sets you can go down the scale as far as that without it appearing yellowish or dull.
