How many miles a week should I jog/run if I want to lose weight? Is 1 mile a day good enough?
Sometimes I can do 3 and sometimes doing one gets me out of breath. Would jogging/running 1 mile a day help me lose weight? Or does it have to be atleast 2 or 3 miles? Thanks!
running is good for a cardiovascular workout, but a mile a day isn’t going to show you any results. A person should get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, and running one mile accounts for only about a third of it. But give yourself a pat on the back for exercising at all!
If you like running the mile, run it everyday, following by some sprints and crunches, pushups, lunges, etc. If you combine all of these workouts with a bit of weight training, your body should be slim and toned in no time.
And remember, the best way to lose weight is by combining a healthy diet with exercise. Load up on your protein, veggies, and fruit, and remember to say no to those afterschool or work treats like cookies or icecream and take it easy on the carbs, don’t totally eliminate them. Carbs are important as they provide energy for your workouts. Good Luck!

1 mile is at most only 10 minutes of exercise. This is hardly enough for a day. try 3 plus if you can. 10km is actually about 6 miles.

You also need to do different exercises and adjust your diet to fewer bad calories.
A mile is okay especially if you give it everything you got when running.
Your goal should be to increase your endurance and stamina and that way your weight will definately drop.

If you REALLY want to lose weight as well as get in extraordiary shape, you should not run LSD (long, slow distance), but run intervals. In fact, jogging sucks.
I did this program (http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle.do?article=251run2), and swear by it. Only problem – it is quite demanding and uncomfortable.

running , jogging or even walking will help speed your metabolism . If your amount of work done in a day exceeds your calorie intake you will lose weight . You may also lose fat as you build muscle mass.
dont push if you are running out of breath slow it down , walk till you recover. Over time you should see an improvement in your stamina.
Walking a half mile a day would be better than running 1-3 miles a week .
