How many miles can you expect to get on a Chevrolet Trailblazer?

I need to buy another car for my mom to have and drive my son around. I found a 2004 Chevy trailblazer for $6500 and it has 92000 miles on it. It is a very nice car, but I have never owned one with that many miles. My husband is prudent about changing the fluids in our vehicles, so that would be taken care of. But I would like to get another 100,000 miles out of it if I do buy it. Is that reasonable?

It will require much more maintenance due to the 4-wheel drive – front axles, transfer case and many more items. Pretty soon the oil/fluid leaks will do you in.

Too many miles for a 4 X 4!

Hottest vehicle now is Hyundai Sonata – 1st owners get 10 years/10,000 mile warranty – subsequent owners get 5 years/50,000 mile drive train from when new.

Made in the U.S.A. -( Alabama)!

If it’s only going to be a 2nd car, why not get something smaller and more economical? If you really want it, have it checked thoroughly by a mechanic before you buy it. That’s the only chance you have to tell if there are problems in the car already.

People who own that car have a number of complaints. Take a look:

    Good luck.

If you change the oil on time and keep up with the other maintenance in the owners manual most newer american cars can be expected to last about 250,000 miles. The problem with buying a used car is you never know how religious the previous owner was about there maintenance. If you decide to buy it I strongly recommend you have a full fluid change for the transmission. This is the most overlooked maintenance for vehicles. Only a licensed mechanic can do it properly since removing the pan and changing the filter only removes about half the fluid. Take it to the dealership for peace of mind. They have a machine that circulates all the old fluid out of the transmission and the torque converter. This should have been done at 60,000 miles but you never know for sure. If the vehicle runs well and has no stange noises you should have no problems.
