A musical marriage … A musical marriage made in heaven, Marcus and Miles. Some of Mile’s best modern work was done via Marcus. Marcus’ funk blended perfectly with Mile’s classic jazz. They bridge the gap between pure jazz, smooth jazz.,and modern music. Miles was my hero. His message, listen to everything, and discover the art for yourself. Tutu is perfection in musical form. Watch these giants and you will dig it. If you love music, you will get it. Peace out.
@jlane954 Marcus … @jlane954 Marcus Miller is playing the bass in the normal sense, and the other guy is Foley, who plays “lead bass”, which I think is some kind of high sounding bass that functions as a guitar.
can some one … can some one explain to me why there are too bass players…i like the song…alot but i dont understand that…im a jazz student and we aint talked bout that.sounds good jus need some guidance.
Another music genre … Another music genre apart of African American ancestral music. People always look down on black people yet in the mist of the worst conditions , we have given the world such amazing things from blues to jazz.
@andii1901 yes. I … @andii1901 yes. I think most (or all) of the Tutu album was composed and produced by Marcus and he played (of programmed) almost all of the instruments on it.
and the history … and the history that led to this had the classical tradition and the newly forming non-classical tradition including early forms of jazz (or simply, not written down music of jazz’s grandfather genres) come together. In short, thats why there are those classical instruments, like the trumpet, on stage. SO, I guess you could argue that this IS classical, and non- classical (non classical in the sense that it’s not of the written down tradition, improvised rather than composed)
look, I could find … look, I could find a piece of the classical tradition that no one here could play. I could find a jazz chart played by some badass that no one here could replicate. Why the does it even warrant an argument? Critical thinking is great, but I think the “difficulty” level of a genre or sub-genre or piece of music doesn’t really matter. If a guy plays something that impresses you, appreciate however you wish! Classical or jazz or whatever
@nicewood21 i dont … @nicewood21 i dont agree that jazz is the most difficult music, there is none at all! Depends on what your natural skill leans towards 1 st of all, and next thing to create great music is equally hard in all styles of music and thats a fact! From Miles Davis to Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Radiohead, Bjork, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Fela Kuti, Pink Floyd, all this music above from these artists are equally hard to create, no?
