The Chinchilla Cage and The Chinchilla Wheel
If you have a chinchilla then you really know that they love to run around and they never seem to get tired. All this energy is just one reason that having a bigger chinchilla cage is vital. Having a big cage is not enough, you really need to have the right toys as well… and the best is a chinchilla wheel. If you have ever seen a hamster wheel, its very much like that but much bigger.
The first thing you need to make sure of is that you get a metal wheel. The metal wheels are really solid and they won’t hurt your chinchilla if they decide to chew them up. The plastic ones will also fall apart from use a lot faster. Next, make sure you keep the wheel under one of the levels of the cage. This position is really important because chinchillas will try to climb on the wheel or jump from above, this stops that.
